GILGIT: The first ‘Tour De Khunjrab 2018’ race will be commencing on May 11 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
A three-day event will start from Gilgit which is about 4,200 feet high and will be concluding at 15,300 feet at Khunjrab. A total of 12 teams comprising 75 cyclists will be participating in the race.
The race will be honored with the participation of national and international cyclists, who have started arriving in Gilgit.
Pakistan Cycling Federation president Haroon and Director Siyahat Muhammad Iqbal informed the media on Wednesday that International cyclists from United States (US), Afghanistan, Switzerland, Australia and Britain have arrived in Gilgit.
The race is quite promising for the cyclists to avail a lifetime experience.
According to reports, organizers have planned to break down the event into three stages. On the first day of the tournament, participants will be riding for about 66 kilometers (km) from Gilgit to Ghulmat. On the second day, the route will take the riders to Sost after covering 110 km.
On the last day, cyclists will be departing Sost to conclude the race at Khunjrab.
The tournament will be a game changer for cyclists in Pakistan with international cyclists coming in. The general public, as well as cyclists, are excited and waiting impatiently for the tournament to start.
