ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Water and Power on Tuesday clarified that no unscheduled electricity load shedding is being carried out across the country, despite steep rise in demand.
According to the ministry, all distribution companies manage the electricity distribution across the country according to the announced schedule. The countrywide shortfall shot up to 4,451 megawatts as power demand mounted to 20,491 with the production standing at 16,040 MW.
The spokesman of the ministry said that unannounced load shedding came to an end adding load shedding of four to six hours is being carried out in the urban areas. In rural areas, the span of load shedding is eight hours, the spokesman added.
It said special teams have been formed to conduct immediate operations for restoration of electricity in case of local faults.
