LAHORE: The recently elected officials of NESPAK Professional Officers Welfare Association (NEPWA) on Wednesday took oath at a ceremony held at NESPAK House, Lahore.
NESPAK senior Vice President Tahir Hayat administered the oath and congratulated the office-bearers and executive committee members. According to details, Hayat assured them of resolving their problems and urged them to fully participate in the execution of nation-building projects undertaken by Nespak. Earlier, the NEPWA president and general secretary briefed the audience on the problems faced by NESPAK officers. NESPAK General Manager Javed Munir has been elected NEPWA Chairman for the term 2017-19. Other office bearers who took the oath include Syed Muhammad Nadeem, President; Nooraz Gul, Central General Secretary; Ghulam Mustafa, Joint Secretary; Aslam Pervaiz, Finance Secretary; Jawad Aslam Bajwa, Office Secretary; and Zulfiqar Ali, Information Secretary.

‘Tribal feud’ claims cop’s life
KARACHI: An employee of Bahrain police has been gunned down near Qaidabad Karachi. According to media reports, armed men shot dead Afzal Khan Mehsud near Ghausia Hotel in Shah Latif Town on Wednesday. According to police, victim was an employee in Bahrain police and was on leave nowadays in Karachi. He was a resident of Madina Town. Three lost lives in separate incidents
SHIKARPUR: Abdullah aged 8, son of Jan Muhammad and Farhan aged 7, son of Imamuddin drowned while bathing in a pond, outskirts of village Khaido Jaffari in jurisdiction of Karan Sharif Police Station, some 10 kilometers away from Shikarpur. Local people fished out the bodies and shifted them to Civil Hospital Shikarpur, where doctors pronounced their death. Police after legal formalities handed over corpses to their loved ones. Meanwhile Abdul Hameed Jatoi, aged 20 committed suicide by shooting himself over domestic matters at his home in village Alim Khan Jatoi near Rustam Town, in the limits of Rustam Police Station, some 25 kilometers from here. Larkana CTD facing problems
LARKANA: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) established in 2010 has been facing shortage of staff, required weapons, furniture and fixture and running affairs in the four room Forensic Laboratory Office with facility of one ceiling fan and provisions of two vehicles. Around 44 policemen taken from district police have no proper anti-terrorism training including one deputy superintendent of police, two sub inspectors, one inspector, two assistants and others. The Department was tasked to look after five districts-Kandhkot, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kambar-Shahdadkot and Larkana. No replacement has been made after the transfer of SSP Abdullah Ahmed about a month ago. SP Irfan Samo, CTD Sukkur was heading the unit on verbal directions. Ten SSPs have so far been transferred since its establishment. our correspondent
