LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Wednesday reiterated that the process of accountability which started from the prime minister should be widened to others, including generals and entire government machinery down to a clerk.
Addressing a press conference at Mansoora, Siraj said the nation wanted accountability to go full circle. He said that the petition filed by the JI in the Supreme Court had also mentioned the names of 436 others named in the Panama leaks besides the former PM. He said if no action was taken against the others, the people would believe that the verdict against Nawaz was biased. He said the JI would approach the court one again for the accountability of the others Panama leaks.
Siraj said that had Nawaz not repealed the law prohibiting transfer of wealth to other countries, the wealth of the nation would not have been transferred abroad. He said that those getting huge bank loans to the tunes of billions written off and availing the benefits under the notorious NRO must also be brought to book.
