KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Labour and Mass Transit Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will jointly inaugurate the 100MW gas power plant in Nooriabad today (Wednesday).
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the minister asked the federal government to put an end to prolonged power outages in Karachi. The minister said that the federal government had failed to fulfil its promises it made to the people of Karachities. “Karachiites were left with no option but to take to the streets against power breakdown. “We protested against the Karachi Electric (KE), Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) and the Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SECPO) but even then Karachiites were left at the mercy of power failure amid rising temperatures.”
The minister disclosed that several power projects, which have been completed, could not be made functional due to tariff issue. He said that there was no tariff issue in Punjab and only Sindh was being forced to bearing the brunt of the issue.
