KARACHI: Participants at public hearing on K-Electric’s review petition forbade the representative for Shanghai Electric Power to speak arguing that he has no legal right to talk here, it has been learnt on Thursday.
The National Electric Power Regularity Authority (NEPRA) was holding an open two-day hearing on the K-Electric’s multi-year-tariff review petition in local hotel here.
China’s Shanghai Electric Power Company has expressed an intention to acquire 66.4 percent (18.335 million shares) of the paid-up capital of K-Electric Limited.
According to sources, the representative for Shanghai Electric Power attended the public hearing but he was not allowed to speak in the hearing by participants. Sources claimed that the Shanghai Electric’s representative wanted to inform Nepra about its $9 billion investment plan to improve transmission, distribution and generation systems of K-Electric.
After public’s protest, the Nepra officials refused to hear the Shanghai Electric Power’s representative in the hearing.
