LAHORE: The lawyers National Action Committee (NAC) having members of bar associations from all over the country on Saturday announced to finalise its strategy for demand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation after the submission of report by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) before the Supreme Court.
After JIT meeting on Saturday, secretary Supreme Court Bar Association while addressing a press conference flanked with Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court Bar Association said that the lawyers would protect the Supreme Court at any cost. He said that PM had been cirtising JIT constituted by the apex court and intended to cause hurdle in the way of fair and free investigation into the Panama corruption case.
He said that Nawaz Sharif as head of the government was bound to respect the state institutions and not to insult them. He said that the government should not hesitate to take legal action to free the country from corruption as the rulers were bound to take action and not making statements only.
He said the NAC would meet again after the submission of the JIT’s report in the Supreme Court and device its policy to make PM Sharif tender his resignation but in the meantime the lawyers would continue their weekly protest against for PM resignation. He said that criticism on the JIT established that the lawyers had been rightly demanding PM resignation to ensure impartial investigation.
He pledged that the lawyers from all over the country would stand by the Supreme Court and the JIT against any adventurism.
