LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the people of Pakistan had supported the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the past and they would support it in the future as well.
Talking to a PML-N delegation in London on Sunday, the chief minister said that people were fed up negative politics aimed at hindering the development process in the country.
He said that several uplift projects had been completed during the tenure of the PML-N and nobody could level allegation of corruption of a single penny in against the PML-N.
Shehbaz said that several historic measures had been taken for the elimination of energy crisis, while work on other projects had been expedited, which would further help reduce reduced load-shedding.
Pakistan, he said, was more peaceful, prosperous and developed as compared to the past.
He claimed that the PML-N government was worked round-the-clock for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The chief minister said that the people would remember forever the historic measures undertook by PML-N for the development of the country and vowed to work with more commitment for the progress of the country until his last breath. “We will not allow anyone to hinder the pace of development,” he added.
In a veiled yet apparent reference to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the chief minister said that those claiming to bring about “change” in Pakistan had been miserably failed. “People have recognised such people who are against the development.”
“Peaceful, stronger and prosperous Pakistan is our mission and we will complete this journey at any cost,” he said, adding that those levelling baseless allegations against the “honest” leadership of the PML-N did not have the capacity to serve the people. “They do not want elimination of poverty, extremism, joblessness and darkness from Pakistan.”
He went on to say that the history would never forgive such people who were “responsible for fanning confrontation, chaos and anarchy in the country”.
He criticised previous governments for ignoring the power crisis in the country. He said that all institutions were on the verge of collapse when the PML-N came into power in 2013 but thanks to the prudent policies and revolutionary measures taken by the PML-N, which changed the destiny of the people.
“Pakistan is now moving forward. We have rendered selfless service to the people during the last four years and have put the country on the road to progress despite all obstacles, including sit-ins, lockdowns and protests.”
