LAHORE: After preliminary scrutiny of clemency application of condemned prisoner Abdul Basit S/O Allah Dita, confined in Faisalabad Jail, President Mamnoon Hussain has sent it to the Ministry of Interior for consideration.
Basit is allegedly convicted of murder and has been languishing in jail for years. His lower half of body is paralysed and the medical checkup conducted by the jail authorities last year found him to be unfit for execution.
On the account of his medical condition his execution was stayed by the Lahore High Court.
