TAMBOO: As many as 19 men and women have fallen victim to the black tradition of Karo Kari in Nasirabad during the last three months.
According to details, incidents of illicit relations increased rapidly in tehsil Tamboo and DeraMurad Jamali following the closure of NGOsincluding Aurat Foundation, OXFAM and others, which were creating awareness among community to prevent violence against women.
According to official record, 10 women and nine men have been killed merciless on charges of illicit relations during the last three months.
In order to prevent such incidents, SSP Zahoor Babar Afridi has ordered immediate arrest of accused involved and holding tribal jirgahs on Karo Kari. He also sought immediate report on illegal Karo Kari jirgahs on social media.
“Those providing security to the accused would also be considered as co-accused in the murder,” he said, claiming that police has arrested 90 percent accused along with weapons of offence and registered cases against them.
