GUJRANWALA: Sacked prime minister Nawaz Sharif will reach Gujranwala on Friday (today).
Efforts are being carried out to make the rally a success. Lawmakers visited the reception camps set up at different points on GT Road and review the arrangements. A motorcycle rally was also held by MPA Toufeeq Butt in which workers participated. A stage has also been prepared in front of Iqbal High School. Sources said that in case the ousted prime minister arrived late, three points, including residence of Ghulam Dastgir Khan, residence of Bao Asif and Marian Hotel have been proposed for night stay of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Independence Day celebrations: Central Jail Superintendent Chaudhry Asghar said arrangements to celebrate Independence Day have been finalized, sports competitions and national songs and speeches will be held in jail and winners will be awarded with certificates and shields. He said this while addressing a meeting to review the arrangements of Jashn-e-Azadi festivals. He said on 14 August the day will be started with flag hoisting ceremony and Quran khawani and special prayers for prosperity of Pakistan will be offered in the central jail.
Arrested: Crackdown of FIA authorities against human traffickers is carried on and SHO Waqar Hussain Awan have arrested three accused here from Gujranwala, Wazirabad and Sialkot. The arrested accused Sunil Jeewan, Tariq Nazir and Muhammad Saleem were involved in sending people abroad illegally.
