LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will read out the verdict of the Panama case that will decide the fate of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on Friday, said a notification issued by the registrar of the apex court on Thursday.
According to details, the verdict of the Panama Leaks case will be read out by the bench hearing the case at 11:30am on Friday.
The case, dubbed biggest legal battle in the country’s recent history by analysts, will finally see its logical conclusion with the verdict being read by the court which had reserved the verdict after concluding the hearing last week.
The three-member bench had concluded the hearing from both the petitioners and defendants on July 21 and had reserved the verdict.
The verdict will be read out the original bench that heard the Panama Leaks case. The bench comprises Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
On April 20, the bench issued a split judgment ordering formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to further probe the matter whereas 2 of the 5 members issued dissenting notes saying the evidence was enough to issue a guilty verdict and further investigation was not needed.
Security in the capital in general and around the apex court in particular has been beefed up.
