MOSCOW: Russian Armed Forces Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said on Wednesday that enhancing relations between Moscow and Islamabad are significantly vital for the regional and international security. He said this during a meeting with Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staffs Committee Chairman Rashid Mahmood. Valery emphasised that the meetings between the Russian and Pakistani defence ministers have given a powerful stimulus to the development of relations between our armed forces and we are optimistic about the prospects of cooperation between our defence ministries. He pointed out that Russia and Pakistan are planning “an intensive programme” of joint events for this year, including talks between the two countries’ general staffs, military exercises and an exchange of military delegations.
